Kayla Blackburn is a Boston based indie-folk singer-songwriter and audio engineer, originally from California. As a songwriter, Kayla draws inspiration from artists like Patty Griffin and Tracy Chapman, with her captivating folk songs that pull you in and remind you of the profound, yet painful human experience. With her songs about hope and justice, she strives to promote radical change through art. Her debut single Village will be released on June 20, 2025. She is currently working on her debut studio album with producer, Ainjel Emme, to be released in 2026.

Her musical background prior to her education at Berklee College of Music (B.M. 2021, Music Production & Engineering), was primarily classical voice training. Her background as a vocalist has made her passionate about choral music and vocal production, exploring the intersection of choral arrangements and technology.

Kayla is a freelance recording, mixing, mastering, and FOH engineer. She is a recording engineer at Plaid Dog Recording and a live sound engineer at Club Passim. Artists/Clients she has worked with include: Anjimile, Biitchseat, Ella McDonald, Oprah, Aroof Aftab, Fabiola Mendez, autumnal, and the NAACP.
